SONORA – The water infrastructure works that the United States Government has financed in 12 of the 22 modules that operate in the Mexicali Valley and San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, are nearly finished.
The investment is about US$20 million and in exchange the modules will deliver 150 billion cubic meters of water in a period of five years.
Leonardo Gaspar Blanco, president of Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada Distrito de Riego Río Colorado, indicated that one of these works will be carried out on the Nuevo Delta canal.
Another project financed with U.S. resources is the lining of the canal “Lobo”, belonging to the Irrigation Module 18.
These are the only two works to be finished within this scheme and together they represent an investment of more than US$5.2 million.
