During his tour of London, the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, and Emmanuel Loo, from the Ministry of Economy, met with Unilever executives. The company announced that it will double its investment from US$400 to US$800 million in a plant to be built in Salinas Victoria.
“Nuevo León continues to be unstoppable! With investments like this, we demonstrate that we are the industrial heart of Mexico and a global manufacturing power,” the President declared.
The new plant will be built in Nexxus and Nexxus2, within the Salinas Industrial Park, in the municipality of Salinas Victoria, and will be an innovation and export engine for all of North America.
From there, Unilever will produce deodorants, shampoos, conditioners and creams of iconic brands such as Dove and Sedal, mainly destined for the United States and Canada.
This investment corresponds to the first phase of the project and will have an impact on the generation of 850 direct jobs and 800 indirect jobs, and 120 additional jobs will be created in the future.
“Mexico is among the 10 most relevant countries in the world, and is key for the export of beauty and personal care products to more than 25 countries,” the company noted.
