TEXAS – Texas Governor Greg Abbott celebrated the opening of Vehicle Accessory Group’s new corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant in the Mesquite region. With a US$65 million investment, the company will create more than 600 jobs in the state.
“We are proud that Texas is home to the best automotive companies in the world. With this new manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters, Vehicle Accessory Group is relocating more than 300 jobs from New York and California and creating more than 600 new jobs right here in Texas,” said Governor Abbott.
Present at the ceremony were Vehicle Accessory Group President J. Pearson, Toyota North America Executive Vice President and Chief Quality Officer Chris Nielsen, City of Mesquite Mayor Daniel Aleman Jr. and City of Mesquite City Manager Cliff Keheley.
During his remarks, Abbott said companies like Vehicle Accessory Group know that Texas can offer a good business climate, workforce and infrastructure needed to thrive.
“Texas is the economic engine of America, where entrepreneurs can have a vision and know they live in a state where they can achieve it. -Made in Texas – is a powerful global brand, and we look forward to working with the Vehicle Accessory Group to continue building a bigger and better Texas for everyone,” the governor said.
Addressing a crowd of more than 150 business leaders and local officials, Abbott highlighted the accomplishments of the US$2.4 trillion Texas economy, including being the Best State for Business for 20 consecutive years and winning the Governor’s Cup for 12 years in a row for the most business relocation and expansion projects in the country.
