COAHUILA – Visits to Coahuila’s vineyards have increased by 400 percent in the last six years, according to Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas.
Governor Jiménez welcomed all attendees to the meeting of the Wine Industry Promotion Commission of the National Conference of Governors, where he said he was convinced that these types of meetings serve to share best practices and ideas.
In his speech, Jiménez recalled that since his time as mayor of Saltillo there has been a good relationship with the members of the guild, chaired by Jesús María Ramón, with whom he has also carried out projects and programs in a coordinated manner, such as the Wines and Wines Route.
He pointed out that thanks to the joint work, visits to the different vineyards in Coahuila grew by up to 400 percent. The meeting was held at the Hacienda Florida Vineyard and was attended by Salomón Abedrop López, president of the Mexican Wine Council and host of the event, as well as officials from Coahuila and Guanajuato, and representatives from states such as Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Baja California, Nuevo León, and wine producers from the region.
Jiménez Salinas assured that Coahuila can create synergy with all the states present at the meeting to boost Mexican wine and the industry will continue to grow.
The governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhué Rodríguez, announced the agenda of events that will be held in his state as part of Wine Week next June, and proposed that the last meeting he presides as coordinator of this commission be in Guanajuato, to which he invited Manolo Jiménez.
It was also announced that on June 4 and 5 the Third State Wine Congress will be held; while from June 6 to 9 the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be held; and from June 8 to 9 the Vive el Vino event.
