TAMAULIPAS – Woodside Energy announced an investment of US$11.6 million for the development of a deep water oil field in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
The representative of the Government of Tamaulipas in Mexico City, Alejandro Rábago Hernández, participated on October 3 in a meeting to welcome Meg O’Neil, Executive Director of Woodside Energy, where the project was announced.
The Australian Ambassador to Mexico, Rachel Moseley, hosted the event with which the company, Australia’s largest private oil and gas organization, officially arrived in Mexico.
In her speech, Meg O’Neil expressed her gratitude for the welcome to Mexico and the opportunity to participate in such an important project to be developed off the coast of Tamaulipas, in the Gulf of Mexico.
It is important to mention that this is an investment of US$11.6 billion, aimed at developing an oil field in deep waters, 180 kilometers east of Matamoros.
The objective is to produce, starting in 2028, 110,000 barrels per day of crude oil and 90 million cubic feet of gas.
During his speech, the head of the Tamaulipas Representation, Alejandro Rábago, affirmed that it will also be an investment that will generate regional development, economic reactivation, high quality jobs, income for families and welfare for society.
“This Woodside project with Pemex not only consolidates our state as an energy power, but also contributes to the energy transition promoted by the Mexican Government,” said Rábago.
