ARIZONA – To discuss the impact of the border crisis on southwest Arizona communities, Governor Doug Ducey recently held a meeting with local officials and business leaders from the city of Yuma.
According to information from Arizona Government, the meeting also included representatives from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), who thanked Ducey for his support in helping to secure the border, protect public safety and facilitate commerce and legal travel.
“You are here on the front lines, and you know the reality of this crisis. We will continue to support the men and women who keep our communities safe. We will work together to effectively implement our plan to secure the border and protect public safety,” said Governor Ducey during a roundtable discussion.
Also participating in the discussion were Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines, Yuma County Mayor Doug Nicholls, Yuma County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kimberly Kahl, agricultural industry leaders and Yuma Community Food Bank President Shara Whitehead.
Whitehead informed the governor of the increased demand for their services and expressed appreciation for the supportive role played by the National Guard.
The roundtable discussion followed the governor’s State of the State address to an audience of approximately 500 people at the Pivot Point Conference Center.
