Electronic Caregiver receives $100,000 for expansion in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM – Electronic Caregiver (ECG) received a $100,000 grant to help it expand in downtown Las Cruces, according to the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance (MVEDA).

The award came from El Paso Electric’s (EPE) New Mexico Economic Development Fund.  The money is “to help create 120 new jobs in Las Cruces,” said MVEDA CEO Davin Lopez.

The Alliance’s role is to identify projects, perform the return on investment analysis and due diligence, and then provide a recommendation to the community advisors who have final approval.

The Southern New Mexico Community Foundation manages the total grants for all applicants that receive funding. ECG’s workforce expansion is also supported by a grant from the State of New Mexico’s Job Training Incentive Training Program (JTIP) and the City of Las Cruces’ WagePlus program.

John Hummer, one of EPE’s community advisors, said this is “a game-changing investment.”

MVEDA said it helps identify projects for funding and CFSNM manages the grant funds. Hummer said he is impressed by the “passion and energy level” at ECG.

In addition to the announced job expansion, Electronic Caregiver (ECG) President Joe Baffoe said ECG has purchased an 11-story tower at 506 S. Main.

The property was built in 1962, is 120 feet tall (easily the tallest building in Las Cruces) and is 11 stories and 105,000 square feet. ECG’s footprint also includes the Addison Care building next door to the tower. Baffoe thanked Pioneer Bank for its assistance in the purchase.
