LAS CRUCES, NM – The City of Las Cruces, New Mexico presented the quarterly sustainability update as part of the Climate Action Plan adopted last October 5, 2020.
The report presented to the City Council focused on building decarbonization goals through policy, education and promotion of highly efficient technologies.
The City Council was informed that decarbonizing buildings could potentially reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero and that the use of electricity in buildings will accelerate greenhouse gas reductions in Las Cruces.
Support for the adoption of electrification and the opportunity for residents to learn much more about those benefits will be shared at the PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training, to be held January 20-21, 2023 at the Las Cruces Convention Center.
The City Council noted that PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training will showcase the availability and accessibility of new and advanced technologies to turn the home or business into an all-electric environment.
The event will be free to the public, and will showcase the different ways in which electricity can have a positive change in civic life, and aims to teach local businesses that can facilitate the conversion of living and working spaces to an all-electric and efficient environment.
