JBS Expands Texas Plant

JBS USA has begun a US$150 million expansion of its beef production facility in Cactus, Texas, with completion targeted for 2027. The project includes the construction of a new, state-of-the-art fabrication floor, as well as significant upgrades to its ground beef operations, aimed at increasing processing capacity and improving overall efficiency.

The expansion is designed to meet growing demand in both domestic and international protein markets, while modernizing one of the company’s key facilities in the United States. By incorporating advanced technology and optimized production processes, the plant is expected to enhance output and streamline operations across multiple product lines.

Located in the Texas Panhandle, the facility plays a central role in the regional cattle industry. JBS USA maintains strong ties with local ranchers, purchasing large volumes of cattle each year and contributing significantly to the local economy. The expansion will further reinforce these relationships by increasing demand for livestock and supporting the broader agricultural supply chain.

The plant currently employs more than 3,600 workers, making it one of the largest employers in the area. While the company has not detailed the exact number of new jobs to be created, the investment is expected to generate additional employment opportunities and strengthen economic activity in the region.

With this project, JBS USA underscores its long-term commitment to the U.S. beef industry, positioning the Cactus facility as a more competitive and efficient operation capable of meeting future market needs.
