NUEVO LEON – The Government of Nuevo Leon held a meeting with The Boring Company, a specialist in the construction of subway tunnels, founded by Elon Musk.
During his tour in Austin, Texas, the Governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia met with the company’s collaborators and together they toured the facilities to observe the production process of such infrastructure.
The purpose of the meeting was to explore the idea of implementing the tunnels in the city with the vision of alleviating traffic through a fast and efficient subway transportation system.
On February 9, García announced that he was seeking an approach with the company for the construction of what he called the “Tesla Tunnel”, which he said will pass through Cerro de las Mitras and will be larger than the one in Loma Larga, where he said a BRT will run connecting the Ecovía with Line 4, linking the municipality of Santa Catarina with the northern area of Monterrey.
During the meeting, a prototype tunnel installed inside the company that connects to the SpaceX yards, also founded by Elon Musk, was toured.
Other tunnels, such as this type of tunnel, are also being analyzed, towards the National Highway, and will be reviewed to connect the municipalities of Guadalupe, Juarez and Monterrey.
The Boring Company, founded by Elon Musk in 2016, is dedicated to building subway tunnels. Its vision is to create a network of tunnels known as “Loop” or “Hyperloop” to transport vehicles offering fast and efficient travel while reducing congestion on the streets.
The company has advanced tunnel technology and subway transportation systems, with successful pilot projects, such as a test tunnel in Hawthorne, California. In addition to passengers, they are also exploring subway freight transportation to improve logistical efficiency in urban areas.
