Celina Morales has been named deputy director of the City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department after serving in that position on an interim basis for the past eight months.
Morales joined the agency in 2022 and has been involved in projects related to business development, community partnerships and redevelopment initiatives. As part of her new duties, she will be in charge of business attraction and retention programs, local business incentives and coordinating strategies with regional agencies to strengthen the local economy.
“Las Cruces is full of energy, opportunity and potential,” Morales said. “I am excited to help our local businesses thrive, attract new investment and create pathways for long-term economic success. A primary goal is to promote sustainable, inclusive growth that ensures economic prosperity reaches all residents.”
A native of El Paso, Texas, Morales has a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and experience in communications, project management and community engagement. In her new role, she will continue to collaborate with city teams to advance the city’s economic goals.
