The automotive industry in Coahuila has experienced a significant decline in employment, with an estimated 14,000 jobs lost over the past two years, according to the Confederación de Trabajadores de México (CTM).
The job reduction reflects slower production levels and operational adjustments by companies in the sector as they respond to changing market conditions. Despite the decline, industrial activity has remained relatively stable, with firms working to adapt to new economic and trade challenges.
Union representatives indicated that when considering direct and indirect employment linked to related industries such as steel and auto parts manufacturing, the total number of affected jobs could reach nearly 30,000 in the central region of the state.
Despite these losses, labor leaders emphasized that there are currently no widespread layoffs and that workforce turnover remains limited. This suggests a level of stability among existing employees, while the industry continues to prepare for future recovery and growth.
