Construction jobs in Las Cruces increase

LAS CURCES – New Mexico outpaced the national job growth rate on a per capita basis, according to new numbers by the Labor Department.

According to New Mexico Workforce Solutions, one of the industries that’s needing employees the most is the construction field.

“Every week, we constantly hear from our subcontractors that they don’t have enough people to work”, stated Anna Rivera, the New Mexico division manager for Desert View Homes.

The report released by New Mexico Workforce Solutions shows that over the past year, the construction industry in Las Cruces has increased by 100 jobs. But the lack of employees in that industry is significant compared to the rest.

“Right now, the market is doing great, and pretty much everything that you see here is sold, but our biggest problem is trying to get the homes complete and on time for our buyers,” pointed out Rivera.
