U.S.-Mexico economic development programs continue progressing

JUAREZ – The head of the North American Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), Roberto Velasco Alvarez, visited Ciudad Juarez and El Paso to review the programs that are part of the objectives of the High Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) between Mexico and the United States.

The official was accompanied by the Director of Border Affairs for North America, Pablo Galvez de Yturbe, as well as the Mexican Consul in El Paso, Mauricio Ibarra.

The Mexican delegation met with representatives of the private sector that lead new investment projects in the border area with the United States, which seek to generate benefits for the economy of the region in one of the key cities for the bilateral relationship with the United States, such as Juarez, Chihuahua.

Following up on the U.S. interest in promoting the development of production chains in the innovation and technology sector, Velasco Alvarez took advantage of the visit to delve into areas of collaboration with the private sector.

During the visit, he also discussed with Consul Ibarra the progress made in the implementation of the new MiConsulate appointment scheduling system to improve documentation services, consular care and protection aimed at protecting all Mexican nationals who require it, regardless of their immigration status.

The delegation also met with the Mayor of Ciudad Juarez, Cruz Perez Cuellar, in order to reiterate the support and interest in collaboration between the SRE and local governments.
